## General and world drachma

<AccordionGroup>
  <Accordion title="What is the World Republic?">
    The World Republic is an open-source global democracy platform with its own digital currency.
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="What is WDD?">
    WDD (world drachma) is the World Republic's blockchain-based currency that turns our political vision into a self-sustaining economic system.
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="What gives WDD its value?">
    The drachma derives its value from being the official currency of the World Republic. As the legitimacy of our platform grows, WDD can become the vehicle of global redistribution and the main medium of exchange in the world economy.
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="How can I earn WDD?">
    Currently, you can earn WDD through [party subsidies](/building-blocks/party-subsidies), the [Ambassador Program](/building-blocks/ambassador-program), or [basic income](/campaigns/basic-income).
  </Accordion>

## Verification and voting

<AccordionGroup>
  <Accordion title="Do I need verification to participate?">
    **For voting and for registering a party.** Both require a verified account. You do not need verification to earn party subsidies on a party you already lead, or to participate in the Ambassador Program.

    Parties registered before this requirement keep their listing, their subsidies and their edit rights.
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="How does verification work?">
    We use the [Self Protocol](https://self.xyz) to verify you through your passport or national ID. Your privacy is protected—Self only confirms you're a real person without exposing any of your personal data.
  </Accordion>

## Elections and parties

<AccordionGroup>
  <Accordion title="What are test elections?">
    Test elections act as a proving ground for the World Republic. They serve two purposes: **stress-testing** our voting technology and **incubating** new political parties. While results are politically non-binding, parties earn real WDD subsidies to help them grow.
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="How do party subsidies work?">
    The World Republic funds political parties based on democratic support. We distribute WDD grants proportional to election results, ensuring that every vote directly increases a party's financial resources.
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="What is the Ambassador Program?">
    The Ambassador Program rewards you for referring new party leaders. When someone you invited registers a party and that party earns subsidies, you receive 10% of that amount as a stipend. The 10% is extra—it does not reduce the party's subsidy.
  </Accordion>
