Basic income was a World Republic campaign about economic security in the AI era: if AI raises what the world produces, the question is who shares in it. The campaign tested one answer directly — it paid citizens a recurring amount of WDD.

What it did

Citizens activated basic income from the home screen and claimed what had built up. The payments came from the community half of the world drachma supply — the same allocation that funds party subsidies.

Why it is closed

It ran from March to June 2026. The World Republic is now built around elections: parties, the votes they win, and the subsidies that follow. Basic income is not running, and neither is the savings account. Nothing was reversed. The WDD it paid out stayed in the wallets that received it.

The question is still open

What the campaign asked has not been settled, and the platform’s answer to an open question is now an election rather than a payment. A party can stand for basic income and citizens can vote for it.
