# World drachma

> The World Republic's digital currency.

The **world drachma (WDD)** is a digital currency that turns our political vision into a self-sustaining economic system. It ensures **infrastructure sovereignty** by operating on neutral, permissionless blockchains that no single corporation or government controls. As the legitimacy of our platform grows, the drachma can become the vehicle of global redistribution and the main medium of exchange in the world economy.

## Tokenomics

The allocation of the total **4 billion WDD** supply (2 billion on World Chain and 2 billion on Base Chain) is designed to prioritize the community and long-term sustainability.

## Multichain strategy

The world drachma exists as a dual-chain asset to balance legacy distribution with new economic incentives.

* **World Chain (Legacy)**: Hosts the initial distribution and established citizen base.
* **Base Chain (Growth)**: Acts as a clean slate for price discovery, providing significantly higher incentives for [party subsidies](/building-blocks/party-subsidies) and the [Ambassador Program](/building-blocks/ambassador-program).

While there is currently no 1:1 bridge between the two networks, this is an intentional phase to allow the Base Chain ecosystem to mature. A 1:1 bridge will be established once the platform's governance and party structures reach full maturity, unifying the global liquidity of the WDD.

## Technical details

The world drachma is a standard ERC-20 token deployed on both Base Chain and World Chain.
